Make Void work for you.

Common setup steps, fixes, and answers for Safari content blocking, DNS filtering, custom rules, and iCloud sync.

Quick setup

  1. Open Void and add a trusted Safari list such as EasyList from the Safari tab.
  2. Void prepares rules automatically when you add a list. Pull to refresh when you want to update your lists.
  3. Open Safari Extensions from Void and enable the Void content blocker extensions.
  4. Open DNS Filter, add a trusted DNS list such as AdGuard DNS, then tap Turn On. On iPhone and iPad, accept the system request to add a VPN configuration.
  5. With Void Pro, open Settings → Sync and choose which categories to sync: Safari filters and rules, Website Controls, user scripts, and DNS filters and rules.

Safari blocking is not active

On iPhone and iPad, go to Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions, and enable the Void content blocker extensions. If you recently changed lists, allow Void to finish preparing the rules, then reload the page.

DNS filtering is not active

Open DNS Filter in Void and tap Turn On. On iPhone and iPad, approve the VPN configuration. Check that a DNS list is enabled. Another VPN can conflict with Void’s local DNS tunnel.

A website looks broken

Turn off the most recent list you added, update protection, and reload the site. If the site works again, leave that list off or add a custom allow rule for the site.

iCloud sync is not updating

Check that each device uses the same Apple Account and has Void Pro available. In Settings → Sync, enable iCloud and the categories you want on each device, then tap Sync Now. Keep Void open while syncing. If a category asks you to resolve different copies, review the choice before selecting the device or iCloud copy you want to keep. Filter lists download separately on each device; activity history and protection permissions do not sync.

Configure the Protection widget

In the upcoming Void 2.7 update, add Void’s Protection widget, then edit the widget to choose 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 1 hour. Use its single control to pause or resume DNS filtering. The countdown shows how long the pause has left; filtering resumes automatically when it ends.

Restore purchases

Open Settings in Void, choose Void Pro, then use Restore. Purchases are handled by Apple through your Apple Account.
